Day 2 Trialling in Canberra- Sunday 10th June

Still freezing cold nights and very frosty morning but once again that beautiful sunshine shone  all day.

It was  the Big Chocolate Kidz 7th Birthday Kirra & Merlot and what better way to spend their birthday running agility.

We had some really awesome course that needed a lot of handling but still had a lot of speed. We all really loved running them, however of course with speed courses comes 1 knocked bar or 1 fault :O)

Todays results were:
Jazz 2nd Place Masters Jumping
Merlot 5th Place Masters Jumping
Nellie 6th Place Masters Jumping

Heather Eaves gained a pass in Masters Agility and Andrew gained a pass in Masters Jumping

My kids Kirra Nakita & Jive all with 1 fault wonders but im very happy with all their runs.

It was strange only having 1 masters Jumping and one Masters Agility for the day however today we did also got a chance to run in open which wasn't offered on the Saturday which also felt strange.

I couldn't help but take a picture of this... These are the contacts we had - I have to say we MISSED our Rubber

Thursday 7th June 2012

Our first stop was Jugiong where we all camped in our caravans with no power it was one freezing cold night with  -3 deg temps who would have thought we had an even colder night coming up at Canberra?

All the Kidz running around in the frosty morning at Jugiong

Friday-Saturday 8-9th June 2012

We arrived in FREEZING COLD Canberra yesterday were we had -5 deg temperatures this morning. The Trial started at 9.00am and there was still ice on the grounds, however it turned out to be one nice SUNNY day.

All the dogs had an absolute ball finally getting to compete in agility after all our Victorian trials being cancelled due to wet ground lately!!

Our Camp
Merlot gained 3rd in Masters Agility
Nellie gained 4th in Masters Jumping
Nakita won Excellent Gamblers
Merlot won Excellent Snooker
Ace gained a qualy in Novice Gamblers

Sally with Emma gained 2nd Place in Novice Jumping

Over all it was an awesome day trialling in the sunshine with so many near misses - great practice for the nationals. We had the chance to meet & see some interstate as well as New Zealand handers & their dogs.

Tomorrow we get ready to do it all over again and it will be Merlot & Kirra's 7th Birthday YAY!!!!!! P-A-R-T-Y Time>>>>

Last Training Session Before the BIG Trip

Well Yesterday Laura, Kris, Mum and I went to Awesome Paws (mums Place) for our last big training session before the Nationals (how scary).

We set up an awesome course and all the dogs did so great it was a very hard course so it really tested our handling skills … We decided to run a course since we have not had much practice, with all our trials being cancelled it was like our mini trial at Awesome Paws :O)

We also did some rear cross exercises......

Jazz doing some rc work

Jive man showing me how late I was at turning

We did some jump work and it was funny out of the 6 dogs that ran it the 3 dogs in the Vic team Nellie Merlot & Kirra did an awesome clean round >GO the Choc Kidz!!>>

We all now have the fun job of making sure we are all packed and ready to leave Thursday… We looked at the weather and Friday for Canberra and it’s a max of 12 deg with a min of -6 deg seriously why so cold?? Oh that’s right we are in winter bugger!!

I think the dogs are getting a sense we are going somewhere  since I was loading the crates in the caravan over the weekend so they know something is up and won’t let me out of their sight!

Our Adventures of the NSW Agility Nationals 2012

Katie and I are starting a blog to keep a record of our time at the NSW agility nationals. Hoping to have updates of results, photos and some video, of course it will depend on time restraints.

The location of the event is Sydney International Equestrian Centre, on two indoor rings and three all weather outdoor rings. The NSW agility nationals will be the biggest nationals so far in Australia as we have 6330 runs over five days, 438 Competitors, and 699 Dogs.
The event will start on the 13th June 2012 and have heats running through until Saturday the 16th June, on the Sunday the finals will commence.
We also have a teams event where each state have a selection process where the dogs are selected to run for their state. (Photo of team members above) Katie my daughter and I were both lucky to be selected and be running for our state for the second time running. We have called the team "Wild Things". The team members consist of Karolyn with Ziggy the kelpie, Laura and Nellie border x, Katie and Kirra, Ros and Paris, myself and Merlot have borders, our emergencey is Nicki with Azra an Aussie.
